What opens in Excel

This is a render of the actual sample workbook, not an illustration. Filter the Projects sheet, then use the other sheets to check units, periods and sources.

Production and capacity are separate columns. Blank means unknown, not zero. Full units, periods and scope remain in the workbook; this image shows its first columns. Select the image to enlarge it.

4 project–metal entries. Production is in tonnes; capacity has its own unit. Dates and scope are in Observations.

Huoshaoyun quantities describe design scale. Capacity effective dates are unknown; Onsan production has its own 2025 reporting period. These distinctions are retained in the files.

What is inside the ZIP

Choose the format you already use. You do not need to work through every file to begin.

MGW-Snapshot.xlsxOpen and filter in Excel

Six sheets: Start here, Projects, Observations, Sources, Dictionary and Coverage.

projects.csvStart a project-level comparison

One row per project–metal entry; bilingual names, country and selected quantities.

observations.csvKeep each quantity in context

Measure, unit, period, entity scope and source keys travel with each observation.

dataset.jsonImport into a research pipeline

The same tables with numeric types, arrays and explicit null values.

sources.csvReturn to the disclosure

Source titles, URLs and location notes, linked by source keys.

data-dictionary.csvUnderstand every field

Field names, types, null rules and bilingual descriptions.

coverage.csvSee what is covered

Counts and known gaps for each included metal.

README.en.mdRead the quick-start guide

Both English and Chinese instructions are included in the ZIP.

examples/load_snapshot.pyRun the reference import

Python standard library only; runs the included SQL and checks matching results.

examples/load_snapshot.sqlReuse the research query

Query comparable Chinese and Korean lead/zinc processing observations.

manifest.jsonIdentify and verify the snapshot

Package version, actual counts and SHA-256 file hashes.

license.jsonRead the sample license

Free to download and redistribute with attribution to MetalsGoWhere; the paid packs are licensed separately.

Three ways to start

01 / EXCEL

Open, filter, trace

Open MGW-Snapshot.xlsx. Filter Projects by metal or country. Use the observation and source keys to check the original disclosure.

02 / CSV · JSON

Import the same facts

Use projects.csv for a flat project table or dataset.json for typed records. Stable English field names match the dictionary.

03 / PYTHON · SQL

Run a working example

Unzip, open a terminal in the folder and run the command below. Python imports the files and executes the included SQL query.

python examples/load_snapshot.py .
Inspect one real JSON observation

One record from dataset.json, showing selected fields. The full file retains its remaining metadata.

Same format. Your selected coverage.

This sample covers selected Chinese and Korean lead–zinc entries and shows the file format common to every pack. Paid packs are licensed separately. A single-metal purchase covers the specified edition for that metal; all-metals packs cover all eight metals. Counts and known gaps for each pack are listed in its coverage file.

One-time purchase of one specified version. Download within 30 days of payment. No future updates, historical versions, API/MCP access, custom integration or analysis service. Public Atlas access and existing free downloads remain available.
