Reading production guidance
Guidance is an expectation for an explicit period; a revision is not realised output.
Definitions
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Initial guidance | The first explicit expectation identified for a stated period. |
| Maintained guidance | A later record that retains an expectation for the same stated period. |
| Revised or withdrawn guidance | A changed or withdrawn expectation; its status does not establish realised output. |
Mechanical rules
| If | Then |
|---|---|
| Any guidance is shown. | Label its own period on every record. |
| A later point falls inside an earlier range with matching scope and period. | Describe the interval as narrowed, not as output fulfilled. |
| A point falls outside the earlier range or a structured scope field differs. | Treat it as a revision or incomparable record; do not claim fulfilment. |
| A record is marked revised. | A revision alone does not prove the initial expectation was met. |
Common misreadings
- A later published point is not actual production unless the source identifies it as actual output.
- Quarterly and cumulative records are not added to create an annual total.
Examples from cleared public records
Guidance and annual actual records: Each guidance period stays attached to its record. A revision alone does not establish realised output.
